Why Mining Requires
Professional Facilitation

The Minerals (Prospecting and Mining) Act No. 33 of 1992 is Namibia's primary mining legislation, governing all aspects of mineral exploration and extraction. It establishes a strict licensing framework — no person may prospect, mine, or peg a claim without the requisite licence or permit from the Minister of Mines and Energy. Violations constitute criminal offences punishable by fines and imprisonment.

Minerals Act No. 33 of 1992 — Part III
Exclusive Prospecting Licences (EPL)
Grants the holder the exclusive right to prospect for specified minerals in a defined area. EPLs are issued by the Minister and are non-transferable without ministerial consent. IBDFN prepares and submits complete EPL applications including geological motivation reports.
Minerals Act No. 33 of 1992 — Part IV
Mining Licences & Claim Pegging
A Mining Licence authorises the extraction of minerals from a defined area. Mining claim pegging must follow prescribed technical specifications. IBDFN's surveyors and mining specialists ensure claims are properly pegged, registered and compliant with all regulations.
